Goodbye Kansas VFX Supervisor/Director Staffan Linder – Emmy nominee in 2016 – has had a busy spring. His master classes about our work on “The Walking Dead” and “Fear the Walking Dead” has been a great success, and an inspiration for all participants at The Imagine Film Festival in Amsterdam and FMX in Stuttgart.

For Staffan, a true horror connoisseur, working with “The Walking Dead” has more or less been a love affair. Staffan is now planning for more master classes, convinced that zombies will never go out of style. They tend to live on forever.

Do you dare to learn the naked truth behind all the cute-animal-clips you can watch on the internet? In fact, many of them are produced by shady animal characters in the nasty “cute animals film industry”.

Welcome to the world of “We R Animals”, a truly original film project now running a Kickstarter campaign to raise money for the production of a puppet film that will change the way you look at animals forever.

The project is the brainchild of Writer/Director Thobias Hoffmén. Academy Award nominee Mathias Fjellström is Producer and David Sandberg of “Kung Fury” acts Executive Producer.

Goodbye Kansas has stepped in as co-producer and helped with the VFX of the teaser trailer.

So what are you waiting for? Come join the fun and be part of the “We R Animals” experience!

The Nordsken Festival of Games, Culture & Creativity in Skellefteå has been an annual success since it started seven years ago. This year, Goodbye Kansas sponsored the 10,000 visitor event in the north of Sweden. We organized a master class focusing on our work with the cinematic for “Raid: World War II”, and invited anyone in the mood for learning VFX basics. We’re both happy and proud to be part of the Nordsken success story, and are already planning for some exciting contributions for next year.

Here’s a brief look at our wonderful weekend in Skellefteå!

“The Square” wins Palme d’Or in Cannes – with VFX from Stockholm

Ruben Östlund’s feature film “The Square” won the top prize – Palme d’Or – at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Swedish director Östlund’s fifth full-length movie is a satire of the art world and confused male identity. Goodbye Kansas helped with the VFX; we reshaped the Royal Palace in Stockholm into an Art Museum, and also created some rather upsetting action within the Square art installation that plays a significant role in the film. As co-producers, we are truly happy for Ruben and his team. Their achievement is also a significant milestone for Swedish film; the first Palme d’Or in 25 years! The last time a Swedish director won the prestigious award was in 1951.

In early May our UK studio wrapped the VFX production for “Suburbicon”, a black comedy/mystery, directed by George Clooney and written by the Coen brothers and Grant Heslov. The film stars Matt Damon and Julianne Moore.

We embarked on this project last fall and delivered over 300 VFX shots during the following months. Now we’re all looking forward to visiting this 50s postcard town, where a seemingly perfect family turns to blackmail, revenge and betrayal.

“Suburbicon” will hit cinema screens in November 2017.

Goodbye Kansas UK is delivering VFX for the award winning drama series “Outlander”. We’ve been working on this amazing series since October last year, and love every second of it. The first episode of season three premieres in September.

The story focuses on Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743, where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world where her life is threatened. Time travel at its best.

On July 24th, the new drama series ”Midnight Texas” premieres on NBC – with VFX by Goodbye Kansas. Our Stockholm and London studios worked together on the project, delivering digital wizardry to two episodes of the first season.

The series is based on the books by Charlaine Harris (of “True Blood” fame) and is directed by Niels Arden Oplev – director of “Mr Robot”. The story is set in the remote Texan town Midnight, where no one is who they seem.  From vampires and witches to psychics and hit men, Midnight is a mysterious safe haven for those who are different. And as the town members fight off outside pressures from rowdy biker gangs, ever-suspicious cops and their own dangerous pasts, they band together and form a strong and unlikely family.
